1. Who we are

Verity is a registered Kenyan research company (Reg. No. BN-J9S6B923) based in Mombasa, Kenya. We conduct primary field research on foreign currency management practices among East African businesses, and we operate an FX benchmark tool at verityadvisory.co.ke/calculator.

We are not affiliated with any bank, bureau de change, financial institution, or government body.

2. What data the FX calculator collects

The FX benchmark calculator collects no personal data.

• All calculations happen in your browser. The amounts and rates you enter are never sent to our servers.
• We store your last chosen currency pair in your browser's localStorage for convenience. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.
• We collect anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example, how many times the calculator was opened, which mode was used, and which currency pair was selected. These events contain no personal information, no amounts, no rates, and no identifiers.
• We do not use cookies. We do not collect IP addresses for calculator usage. We do not track individual users across sessions.

This approach is designed in alignment with the Kenya Data Protection Act (2019) and applies the principle of data minimisation — we collect only what is necessary to improve the tool.

3. What data our research activity collects

When Brian Kiptoo visits a business as part of Verity's field research, any information shared during that conversation is held under the following commitments:

• No company is identified by name in any research output. All findings are reported at sector level only.
• No individual is identified by name. Quotes, if used, are attributed only to a role — e.g. "Finance Manager, tea exporter."
• Notes taken during conversations are for research purposes only and are not shared with third parties.
• Information shared is not used against the commercial interests of the participating business.

4. Exchange rate data

Live exchange rates displayed on the calculator are sourced from ExchangeRate-API (exchangerate-api.com) via their open access endpoint. Rates are indicative mid-market references updated daily. They are not rates offered by any bank or financial institution.

5. Analytics

We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool. Umami does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not track individuals across sessions. Usage data is stored on Umami Cloud servers located in the EU. No personal or transaction data is included in analytics events.

6. The FX calculator is for information only

The Verity FX benchmark calculator is an informational tool. It does not constitute financial advice, investment advice, or any form of regulated financial service. Users are solely responsible for their own financial decisions.

Rates displayed are indicative references only. Actual rates from banks vary by transaction size, timing, client relationship, and other factors. Verity makes no representation that any rate shown is achievable or accurate for any specific transaction.

7. No execution of transactions

This tool does not facilitate, execute, or process any currency exchange transaction. Verity is not a payment service provider, money broker, or licensed financial institution under any applicable Kenyan or international regulation.

8. Limitation of liability

Verity is not liable for any financial decisions made based on information displayed by this tool. The calculator is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of rates or calculations.
